OUR PURPOSE

Our Purpose

At PLATF9RM, the core of our ethos is community, not just the incredible, supportive membership but the wider Brighton & Hove community.

We love the city we live in, and want to give back when we can to show our appreciation to this place we call home.

Here’s what we’re up to.

CHARITY

We fundraise year-round for our charity partner; The Clocktower Sanctuary and also support a number of other charities across the year.

THE CLoCK ToWER SANCTUARY

The Clocktower Sanctuary is our chosen charity of 2023, and we will be fundraising a total of £9,000 to support the amazing support work they do for 16-25-year-olds who are homeless or insecurely housed.

The Clocktower Sanctuary are the only day centre for young people experiencing homelessness, giving dignity and opportunity to those who need it. We visited their day centre to have a chat about the crucial support and services they offer for young people in Brighton & Hove. Tap here to see a video from our recent visit.

BAToN OF HOPE

#BatonOfHopeUK is designed to be the biggest suicide awareness and prevention initiative the UK has ever seen, opening up necessary conversations and prompting appropriate actions.

This past July we were honoured to host The Baton of Hope as their second stop of the Brighton Tour, with one of our own, Jessica Samson being a Baton Bearer.

As part of our involvement we donated £1250.97 in event space hire and staffing costs as well as £250 direct donations from ticket sales.

PLATF9RM VS THE THReE PEAKS

Huge congratulations to PLATF9RM team members Jacob, Grace Haia and Francesca who raised £2,436 for The Clocktower Sanctuary by completing the Three Peaks challenge in May.

Our heroes managed to reach the summit of the three highest mountains in Scotland, Wales & England in under 24 hours, in the name of a charity very close to our hearts. You can still donate via the JustGiving link below.

WORDs FROM OUR PARTNERS

"We can’t thank the PLATF9RM team enough for their support in 2023.  From the 3 Peaks challenge in May, to the Big City Sleepout in December, they have raised thousands to support our young people. We also really appreciated using the beautiful space for our Impact celebrations in November and access to office space throughout the year. A huge thank you for the continued support and enthusiasm!"

Lorna Beaumont , Fundraising Officer at The Clocktower Sanctuary

"On the 16th of December, Gutsy and Yapped Out hosted an event at PLATF9RM to launch our conversation card deck about race - Crossing Paths. This was an all-around wonderful experience. Not only did it feel like PLATF9RM helped us every step of the way, it felt like they were genuinely enthusiastic and genuine in their want for it to be successful. Working with PLATF9RM was a joy and something that we as Gutsy would recommend and love to do again ourselves."

Naïla dos Santos, Co-Founder of TheGutsyProject

"The journey with PLATF9RM has been transformative - it led me to discover my business partner, connect with like-minded social entrepreneurs in Brighton, establish a thriving community for neurodivergent entrepreneurs, and successfully host a series of well-attended events. In a world where few enterprises take daring leaps of faith on emerging non-profits, PLATF9RM not only embraced the challenge but showcased their extraordinary commitment. Their support not only echoes their dedication but also illuminates the unique and special nature of what we're building together. Here's to breaking barriers, making waves, and leaving a lasting impact!"

Mark Blake, Founder of Joyfully Different

"PLATF9RM never fails me and the projects I have hosted in their space! The important thing for me is that any event I host brings people together - their space does just that and MORE! Everyone leaves in awe of the space, its aesthetics and their workers; you always feel at home, welcomed and seen whenever you enter. The last event I hosted with them unified 30+ people from diverse backgrounds, buzzing with the vibrancy of PLATF9RM - we left the event feeling on top of the world! We need more spaces like PLATF9RM to say the least, but even if it is replicated, PLATF9RM is like no other."

Kaia Allen Bevan, Brighton-based Activist
